Though, Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Thakur has already clarified that the Union Cabinet’s decision to reduce domestic LPG cylinder prices was not linked to upcoming assembly polls and was about providing relief to people.”It has got nothing to do with elections and it is all to do with relief measures and benefits to be given to the users,” Thakur has said.
However, Reduction in the price of gas cylinder by Rs. 200 is a gift to the masses on the festival of Raksha Bandhan, which is a very special gift for the sisters residing in the country, said Sanjita Dogra while hailing PM Narendra Modi for the decision. Sanjita Dogra said that at present, a 14.2kg LPG (Liquified petroleum gas) cylinder in the national capital costs rupees 1103, which would be reduced to 903 after this decision. And, for beneficiaries of the PM’s Ujjwala scheme, the price will be 703 as the PMUY Consumers will continue to get the subsidy of Rs 200 in their accounts, she said.
Another women leader Ritika Trehan hailed the government’s decision to slash cooking gas price by Rs 200 per cylinder, calling it Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s gift to women ahead of Raksha Bandhan. Calling it a “drastic” cut in the price of LPG cylinder, Ritika said the Narendra Modi government’s decision will benefit 33 crore consumers. She called the cut in LPG prices by Rs 200 per cylinder a “huge relief for the poor and middle class”. Ritika further said that this price reduction is also applicable to beneficiaries of the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY), resulting in a combined subsidy of Rs 400 per 14.2kg-LPG cylinder. She expressed his hope that the reduction in gas prices would contribute to the well-being of sisters within his family and across the nation. Ritika expressed gratitude for the government’s decision to lower domestic cooking gas prices.
