Prepaid or postpaid; let consumes chose
National Democratic Party Indian (NDPI) J&K UT Chief said that the PDD department is forcing people to pay electricity bills through prepaid. Gupta appealed to LG Manoj Sinha and categorically said that the discretion should lie with the consumer whether he/she wants prepaid or postpaid. Most of the common people rely on their monthly budget from their salary or their small earnings. How they can pay prepaid? Let them pay the regular bill don’t force prepaid meters on them.
NDPI leader further added that at least 300 units should be given free to BPL instead of 30 units. He said that the Government of Jammu and Kashmir is forcing people to pay prepaid bills. He also demanded the removal of authorities forcing people to shift to pre-paid billing portal. NDPI has decided to oppose it strongly and is continuously protesting against it on the streets against the authorities of the Power Development Corporation.
Rajesh Gupta said that JPDCL’s linemen and other officials are promoting a hook system for minting money from the slum dwellers while the local people who are local people are being handed over huge electricity bills. He also said that no action is being taken against those who have outstanding bills of lakhs while common people are being disconnected after paying huge bills.
NDPI president said that they won’t tolerate this at any cost and would intensify the movement against prepaid meters in the days to come.
